On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016, at approximately 6:13 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a vehicle burglary at 205 N. Ocheyedan St. in Everly, Iowa. A Kraco C.B. radio and the vehicle’s paperwork was reported stolen. The incident occurred approximately between December 5th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to December 6th, 2016 at 6:00 a.m.

At approximately 7:42 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a second complaint of a vehicle burglary at 302 N.W. 1st St. in Fostoria, Iowa. Reported stolen from the vehicle was two full .40 caliber Glock magazines, a universal charger, a Sobus paddle holster and the vehicle’s paperwork. The incident occurred approximately between December 5th, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. to December 6th, 2016 at 7:30 a.m.

At approximately 8:44 a.m., the Clay county Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a stolen vehicle from the Everly High School Parking Lot located in Everly, Iowa. The vehicle stolen was a red 2000 Chevy Impala with right front end damage. The vehicle was located in a grove of trees at 3012 Tyler Avenue in O’Brien County. The vehicle was found with the dash pulled off and the touchscreen stereo missing. Also missing from the vehicle was a phone card and a Clay Central Everly issued Chromebook.

The investigation is ongoing and arrests are anticipated. If anyone has information regarding the above car burglaries or the vehicle theft, please contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 712-262-3221.

The 16 year old male was traveling north on 160th Ave when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle and was struck.  The air bags deployed causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle entered the west ditch, hit a culvert and flipped one time on to the driver’s side. No charges were filed.

Details of Arrest: On November 30th 2016 approximately 5:24 P.M. a Clay County Deputy conducted a warrant check at 308 1st St, Dickens. The deputy observed a beige Cadillac leave the residence following the Cadillac back to 308 1st St. The Deputy made contact with the driver idenfied as Chase Hagedorn. Hagedorn was wanted on a Clay County Warrant. After Hagedorn was placed under arrest, the Deputy located marijuana on the suspect. Hagedorn was transported to the Clay County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled subtance, driving while barred, driving while suspended and driving while revoked. No bond.

fled the residence. The Deputy located Butterfield at 3885 130th Ave, Butterfield was
placed under arrest, transported to the Clay County Jail and charged with domestic abuse
assault 2nd offense. Bail was set at no bond. The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted
by Clay County Conservation.

Unit 2 was traveling north on 1st Avenue and was approaching the stop sign at the intersection of 400th St. Unit 2 attempted to stop and slid through the stop sign due to icy road conditions and struck Unit 1.

ACCIDENT DETAILS
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office responsed to a traffic crash at 260th Ave and 380th St. Upon arrival, a truck was found on its top, in approximately three foot of water. It was determined there were no occupants present. The investigation revealed the driver was Jordan Gunnarson, and he was located and found uninjured. Gunnarson advised he had lost control of the vehicle because he was familiar with the area. Alcoholic beverages were found in Gunnarson’s vehicle but it was not determined to be a factor at the time of the accident.
Gunnarson was cited for failure to maintain control and possession of alcohol under the legal age. The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Dickens Fire Department, the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and the Estherville Police Department.

After Depties where notified the Pitbull had killed a cat and do to prior incidents involving the Pitbull biting a nieghbor and killing another dog, Hagedorn was placed under arrest and transported to the Clay County Jail. Hagedorn was charged with Dickens City Ordinance Animal at Large. $300.00 cash/surety bond. The Pitbull was removed from Dickens.

stop on the vehicle in the 3500 mile of M-38. The driver, Joshua David Timberman of Hartley, Iowa, admitted to speeding and not having a valid driver's license. ACCIDENT DETAILS

White was traversing the curve at M27 and E 4th ST in Peterson north bound when he lost control of the semi he was driving. The semi turned over and came to rest on its passenger side. White was hauling a load of bulk fertilizer which spilled out of the trailer on impact. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Peterson Fire and Ambulance, IA DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and Clay County Secondary roads.

A traffic stop by a Clay County Deputy lands a North Dakota male and a Nebraska female in the Clay County Jail on traffic a drug charges.

At approximately 2340 hrs. Monday, October 17th, 2016, a Clay County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding violation. Upon investigation, it was found the driver, Anthony Strong, 46, Devils Lake, N.D., didn’t have a valid drivers license. Strong was placed under arrest and upon further investigation, drug paraphernalia and a white substance believed to be crack-cocaine was located. Strong was transported to the Clay County Jail w/o incident and Strong advised the Deputy of the crack-cocaine and drug paraphernalia being the female passengers, Theresa Allen, 41, Nelson, Nebraska.

Allen was located with the assistance of the Spencer Police Department and was detained and transported to the Clay County Jail w/o incident. After questioning, Allen was placed under arrest and was charged with P.C.S.-Crack-Cocaine, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. Allen was held on a $1,000.00 cash or surety bond. Strong was charged P.C.S.-Crack-Cocaine, a Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Drivers License, No Insurance and Speeding, all Simple Misdemeanors. Strong was held on a $1,000.00 cash or surety bond.

Details of Arrest: A 911 call reported an altercation between a male and female in a vehicle southbound on Hwy 71. The Iowa State Patrol made contact with the male and upon arrival, the Clay County Sheriff's Office contacted the female. Each was identified and following an investigation, each was placed under arrest and transported to the Clay County Jail.

Matthews advised he lost control as he turned onto 320th Ave and entered the ditch. It was determined Matthews had been drinking, standardized field sobriety tests were administered and Matthews was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Clay County Jail.

Details of Arrest: Upon investigation of crop damage and a vehicle left in the middle of an unpaved roadway, a Clay County Deputy found Milton Vasquez had drove on a suspended drivers license, got stuck and left his vehicle in the middle of the roadway. The Deputy met Vasquez at the Clay County Sherifff's Office and took him into custody. Vasquez was charged with Driving Under Suspension and Stopping on the Traveled Portion of an
Unpaved Roadway, both Simple Misdemeanors. The investigation of the crop damage is currently being investigated.

Highway 71 from Milford. The Deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop
in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue, Spencer. After making contact with the driver,
Christina Grubb, the Deputy was notified Grubb was wanted on a Harrison County
Warrant for Theft 2nd. Grubb was placed under arrest and transported to the Clay County
Jail and charged with OWI - 1st offense and taken into custody on the Harrison County
warrant for Theft 2nd. The Clay County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Spencer Police
Department.
