Details of Arrest: Nicholas turned himself into the Clay County Sheriff's Office. The Clay County Deputy served a warrant on John Nicholas of Sugarland Texas for Failing to Appear for his Pretrial Conference. The Original Charges are Ongoing Criminal Conduct (B Felony) and Theft 1st Degree (C Felony) Bond is set at $5000.

On August 14, 2017 at approximately 10:36 a.m., a Clay County Sheriff Deputy and a Spencer Police Officer went to 1410 4th Ave W in Spencer for an attempted warrant service and order of protection for 30 year-old Nathan Tesch. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they witnessed Tesch standing at the back door of the residence. Tesch retreated back inside his home and refused the commands of law enforcement to exit the residence. Officers immediately secured the perimeter and attempts to make contact with Tesch were unsuccessful.
At 12:54pm, members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Police Department and Spencer K9 made entry into the residence and were able to take Tesch into custody without further incident. Tesch was charged with interference with official acts by the Spencer Police Department.
Tesch had the following warrants for his arrest from Dickinson County, two counts of Domestic abuse assault, one a Class D Felony and one an aggravated misdemeanor, operation of a vehicle without the owner’s consent, criminal mischief 3rd Degree, probation violation, trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also a warrant for contempt of court, failure to pay fines out of Palo Alto County.

Tesch was held on a $300 bond for the Interference with office acts charge. He will be release to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office at a later date.

Details of Arrest: On August 2, 2017 at approximately 8:56 pm a deputy initated a traffic stop in the 1900 mile of 500th Street with a blue 2007 Suzuki Forenza that had a driver's side headlight out. It was determined that the driver, Rigoberto Cruz, had a suspended license. Cruz was placed under arrest for driving while license under suspension. Upon further investigation, Deputies found that Cruz did not have proof of financial liability, and was cited for that also. Cruz was transported to the Clay County Jail, where he later bonded out.

Details of Arrest: On July 26, 2017 Deuties were called to Quik Spot in Everly, IA for an assault. Deputies located a vehicle matching the desription of a green Chevy Cavalier and made a traffic stop in the 1500 mile of B24. The driver, identified as James Stegman, was a suspect from the assault. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Stegman was under the influnce of alcohol. Stegman was placed under arrest for OWI 1st and was later charged with assault and disorderly conduct related to the assault at Quik Spot in Everly, IA.

ACCIDENT DETAILS

Kane was westbound on 280th street when he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of 280th street and highway 71. Kane proceeded west across the northbound lanes of traffic and then stopped at the yield sign in the median, before proceeding across the southbound lanes of traffic. Kane thought traffic was clear and he did not see unit 2 until the two vehicles collided.


The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fostoria Fire and Rescue, the Spencer Ambulance, and Bud’s Service

Details of Arrest: The Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious person complaint who had been at a residence and advised the occupant he had been in an accident and wanted to use their phone. It was also reported that the male didn't want an ambulance or help called for. Upon Deputies arrival, the male was located walking in the 3100 mile of 140th Ave. Contact was made with the male and he was identified as Jeremy Rose. Upon investigation, it was found Rose had a suspended drivers license and admitted to having used marijuana earlier in the afternoon. Rose was run through field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Driving Under Suspension. Upon further investigation, marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located in Rose's backpack. Rose was transported to the Clay County Jail w/o incident. At the jail, Rose was offered further testing for O.W.I. but refused. Rose was turned over to jail staff charged with, Failure to Maintain Control, Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle, No Insurance, Driving Under Suspension and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, all Simple Misdemeanors, P.C.S.-Marijuana and P.C.S.-Methamphetamine, both Serious Misdemeanors, and O.W.I. (3rd) a class "D" Felony. Rose was held to appear before the Magistrate.

Alexander Greene was northbound in the 3900 mile of 160th Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle. Greene’s vehicle entered the west ditch, where it rolled and came to rest in a corn field.

CLAY COUNTY DEPUTIES ARRIVED ON SCENE AND OBSERVED THE STOLEN BOAT AND DEATAINED THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER, COREY WILHITE AND AUSTIN STRANG. AFTER INVESTIGATION AND QUESTIONING, WILHITE ADMITTED HE AND STRANG STOLE THE BOAT FROM SPENCER THE NIGHT OF JULY 11TH. IT WAS ALSO DETERMINED THE PICK-UP WILHITE WAS DRIVING WAS STOLEN FROM GUSTOFF SALVAGE IN SPENCER. THE SPENCER POLICED DEPARTMENT CONDUCTED THE INVESTIGATION ON THE TRUCK. WILHITE AND STRANG WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE CLAY COUNTY JAIL AND BOOKED IN THE THE JAIL. WILHITE AND STRANG WERE CHARGED WITH THEFT 2ND DEGREE AND WHILTE WAS CITED WITH NO VALID DRIVERS LICENSE. BOTH WERE HELD ON A $5,000 BOND EACH.
